WIRED is featureing a promo for Witchblade that I've been planning and subtly working on for years! The idea is that every cover of Witchblade since I took over on issue 151 has a hidden message in the cover. If you're a good little detective like Ms. Pezzini, and can crack the code; I've got a chunk of cool, free, stuff to offer.

I've had to keep my lips sealed on this since, well I started comics a couple years ago. When I was first asked by Top Cow about the interest in doing covers, I sent my mind racing on cool and innovative ways to add a certain Warhol-ian/Kaufman-esque spin on comic art.
Before I ever dreamed of working on a beloved book like Witchblade, I set my sight in a different direction and I started thinking about special ways to work with some of their other books. One that I was always fond of were the AMAZING covers of Adam Hughes on Tomb Raider. It got me thinking about the idea of working in a "treasure map", where the viewer could discover something special.
Hidden messages are nothing new in comics and art, but after talking with top dog (or is it cow?), editor Filip Sablik, we discussed the opportunity through digital distribution to actually GIVE something back!
Besides the standard stuff, I'm franticly working on some original pieces, that will be exclusive to this project.
As an artist, I love adding little insider stuff like this; and I find it such a sign of this brave new world we live in that I can now share something like this with everyone else!
Viva la Raza!
